In line with the latest health advice, De Montfort Hall is now closed to the public.
We are currently working on rescheduling shows that this closure will affect. Tickets, including pre-booked venue parking, for rescheduled shows will automatically be transferred to the new dates and ticket holders will be contacted in due course, via email, to discuss options.
Please check our social media channels and individual show web pages for more details.
Thank you for your ongoing patience, support and understanding in what is an unprecedented situation.

Rhod Gilbert

It has been a while, but the multi-award-winning Welsh comedian is back, with a brand new live show. In a seven-year break from stand-up, a lot has happened to Rhod. Almost all of it s**t. And just when he thought he’d hit rock bottom, he met a bloke...called John.

This show sees Rhod as funny as ever, but like never before. Raw, personal and brutally honest; no more lies, no more nonsense.

Tour extended due to phenomenal demand.

As seen on 'Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience', ‘'Would I Lie to You?’, 'Taskmaster’, ‘Qi’, 'Live at The Apollo', 'Have I Got News for You?’, and much more...

"Darkly hilarious, Gilbert's most satisfying show for a decade. It's good to have him back." Times

"Volcanic, high octane humour. Uproariously funny." Guardian

"Britain's crossest comic roars back in style. Hilarious tour-de-force." Telegraph

"Back at his acerbic, witty best. So utterly confident on stage. Hilarious from start to finish. Welcome back Rhod - just don't stay away so long next time." Wales Online

The Book Of John

Please note this show has now been rescheduled to Sunday 25 October 2020.

All tickets will remain valid for the new date, but if you cannot make this new date, you will be able to have a refund.

Due to the current circumstances with the Coronavirus pandemic, we are incredibly busy in our box office so regret we will be unable to process requests for refunds immediately. If you need to get in touch please email

We ask you to bear with us during this unprecedented time, and we will deal with any enquiries as soon as we are able.

Statement from Rhod Gilbert:
"Ok, in light of the latest Government advice with regards to the Corunavirus outbreak, we are postponing all \'Book of John\' tour dates in March and April 2020.

We have dates scheduled for June and July 2020, which we are still hoping to go ahead with, but we will obviously continue to monitor the situation carefully, and will act accordingly, so watch this space for regular updates.

I am gutted, and so sorry to disappoint, but our health must come first, and given the circumstances we feel this is the correct and responsible thing to do.

We are working hard to reschedule all dates, so please bear with us while we do this.

Original tickets will, of course, be valid for the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be offered to those unable to attend the new dates (or in the unlikely event that we are unable to reschedule a date due to venue availability).

In the meantime, take care, stay safe, look out for one another, keep your peckers up, look for those silver linings, whistle*, and I really hope to see you all at a show somewhere when all this is over/improving.

Cheers, Rhod.
