Literature at Lunchtime

Daphne du Maurier My Cousin Rachel
With Dr Jane Mackay

Like her earlier novel Rebecca this 1951 novel is set in Cornwall with a mysterious heroine who may or may not be guilty of murder. Du Maurier’s work is much darker here and much deeper in its exploration of the psychology of her characters.

This is a superb story with that sense of mystery that she knows so well how to create. Come and decide for yourselves whether Rachel should be put to death!
